Is there a limit to the number of Dash coins that can be mined?
Yes, there is a limit to the number of Dash coins that can be mined.
The total supply of Dash is 18,900,000 coins. This number will never increase and no more Dash coins can be created. Dash uses a consensus algorithm called Proof-of-Work (PoW) to validate transactions and create new blocks on the blockchain.
The PoW algorithm rewards miners with newly created Dash coins for their work in verifying transactions and creating new blocks. The reward for mining a block is currently 6.25 Dash coins, which is halved every 210,000 blocks (approximately every 4 years).
This means that the total number of Dash coins that can be mined is limited to 18,900,000 coins. Once all 18,900,000 Dash coins have been mined, miners will still be able to earn rewards for verifying transactions and creating new blocks on the blockchain. However, these rewards will come in the form of transaction fees instead of newly created Dash coins.
