What is the total supply of Tezos?
The total supply of Tezos is 763,306,930 XTZ.
This number is the maximum amount of XTZ that will ever exist and is based on the amount of tokens that were created during the initial coin offering (ICO) in July 2017. The total supply is fixed and no new tokens can be created. The total supply of XTZ is distributed among three different groups: holders of the original ICO tokens, holders of the Tezos Foundation tokens, and holders of the Tezos Baking rewards.
Holders of the original ICO tokens received 65% of the total supply, while holders of the Tezos Foundation tokens received 20%. The remaining 15% was allocated to holders of Tezos Baking rewards. Tezos Baking rewards are generated through a process called “baking” which involves validating transactions on the Tezos blockchain.
Bakers are rewarded with XTZ for their efforts in helping to secure and maintain the network. The amount of XTZ rewarded to bakers depends on how many blocks they validate and how much they stake in order to participate in baking.
