What is Decentraland?
Decentraland is a virtual world powered by the Ethereum blockchain.
It is a decentralized, open-source platform that allows users to create, experience, and monetize content and applications. Decentraland is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses its native cryptocurrency, MANA, to facilitate transactions within the platform. Decentraland consists of a virtual world made up of parcels of land that users can purchase using MANA.
These parcels are called LAND and are permanently owned by the user. The user can then build whatever they want on their LAND, such as 3D scenes, games, shops, art galleries, or anything else they can imagine. Users can also explore other people’s creations in Decentraland’s virtual world.
In addition to creating content in Decentraland’s virtual world, users can also monetize their creations by selling them for MANA or setting up an in-game marketplace where other users can buy items from them. This allows users to earn real money from their creations in Decentraland’s virtual world. Decentraland also has its own governance system which allows users to vote on changes to the platform and how it should be run.
This ensures that Decentraland remains decentralized and open-source while allowing its community to shape its future direction.
