Is there a limit to how many HBAR tokens can be created or mined?
The Hedera crypto project is a decentralized public network that allows users to securely and efficiently create, store, and transfer value.
The project utilizes a native cryptocurrency called HBAR, which is used to pay for network services and incentivize network participants. The total supply of HBAR tokens is fixed at 50 billion tokens. This means that no more than 50 billion HBAR tokens can ever be created or mined.
The initial supply of HBAR was distributed through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in 2019, with the remaining tokens being allocated to the Hedera Treasury and the Hedera Foundation. The Hedera Treasury holds 10 billion HBAR tokens, which are used to fund development projects and reward network participants for their contributions. The Hedera Foundation holds 40 billion HBAR tokens, which are used to fund research and development initiatives as well as other activities that benefit the Hedera ecosystem.
The total supply of HBAR tokens will remain fixed at 50 billion, meaning there is no limit to how many HBAR tokens can be created or mined. However, it should be noted that the total circulating supply of HBAR may fluctuate over time due to token burning events or other activities that reduce the number of circulating tokens.
